My work table on Nov 3rd (I´m posting each day what I created the day before):
The plan is to cut all those cardbox boxes, gesso/base paint them and work on a series called "Facing my fears" which truly means putting a face to each of them.

Here´s the first sketch, my fear of not being liked.
Yesterday my garden looked as if it had snowed. Here are some pictures to tell you the whole story.
This is a very young "palo borracho" tree in our back yard.

This is his sibling. Planted at the same time but in a much much muuuuuuuuch smaller pot.

Both are offsprings from my neighbour´s "palo borracho" tree planted from seed.

The black seeds are inside these fluffy cotton like ... oohhhh... eerrmmmm... how is it called? ... ok, then ... thing. :D

In early winter you can see the hard skinned fruits and then by early spring the cover falls (beware of sitting under these trees then, when I say hard I really mean hard) and you can see the fluffy material that will fall like snow in late October/early November.
I can't imagine anyone not liking you, Paula, so no worries there. Nice sketch!
ReplyDeleteWhat a very interesting tree too. I see they belong to the Baobab family.
Can't wait to see your finished series! An intriguing concept. :)How many do you plan to make?
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of your series...we all have fears...don't we? Looking forward to seeing the progress on them! Cool stuff. happy friday!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea of working in a series!
ReplyDeleteI think, too, it was brave of you to sketch fear. :)
Happy PPF!!

uh, oh...who would not like you...YOU're awesome! Cute sketch!
ReplyDeleteDropping in to see what you're up to...fabulous idea that: drawing your fears. Can't wait to see where this takes you. And - and that tree again. I am in love with the idea of that tree tho I may never actually see one. My husband has a lemon tree we dutifully put out every spring and bring back in every fall (along with a bunch of other tropicals). He grew it from a seed. It has never flowered. He loves it. He has loved it for over 20 years now!I love that you grew your trees from seed to - that makes it so special!
ReplyDeleteI like seeing your workspace and all your supplies lining up on the table.
ReplyDeleteVery artsy!
I'm looking forward to seeing how your series turns out!
I like the monster you have sketched, and I think we are all afraid of something; I know I am! Have a wonderful weekend, Valerie
ReplyDeleteYour drawing is very scary! Good job at depicting fear.
ReplyDeleteOh, Paula, I have that gremlin, too!!! Love the sketch... love seeing your work space... and I just re-purposed cardboard and some old canvases today, too! Cardboard rules, doesn't it :) xo
ReplyDeleteGreat sketch and interesting concept.
