Advent day 9 to 12: Revolutionary thought

A Christmas corner in our kitchen. I took a picture at home because ... wait to read this ... I left my camera deliberately at home these days. WHAT? A Happysnappy without a camera?!?!?!?!?

Yups. We have been around town shopping with friends on Thursday and with my mom on Friday but taking a joyfully slow approach. We´ll see the lights, wander through stores looking at pretty things and choosing what is really "right" with lots of breaks and warm companionship. No neckbreaking speed frantic tours with long lists that we blindly cross out because I´m taking a revolutionary action this year...

Bear with me with a bit of family history:

dh´s youngest cousin never shows up, even worse, he says he will and then he doesn´t leaving you with a family of four extras. For years I sent them Christmas presents through his mother, much to hubbie´s dismay.

This year I considered, who am i trying to impress with this taking the higher road? Them? Myself? Whoever it is, it is taking up too much time and money and I have decided to ... write them off my list and replace them with a friend and her family (they are also four).

The idea took flight from there, so I replaced one of my "family of five" cousins with a friend´s family of five, and then ... another. This is addictive.

The revolutionary Christmas action is to give present to those I truly like, not to those I "should".
That is my wish for this season, to give from the heart, to the heart. To give my loving attention, time and effort (including financial) to those I love.
If you don´t see me after Christmas, you know what happened, I´m hiding from the mob.

GOOD FOR YOU!!! What an empowering decision you have made. My friend and I were just talking over soup today about the importance of becoming ever more authentic in our lives. Yes!

~as Paula wishes so lovingly to give so I wish for her too...i couldn't agree more, nothing should be done because someone out there says we have to but because we truely want too!~

Paula..wonderful post!! I am with you here. We have had a very financially challenging month...thus fewer gifts..more homemade things. I was struggling with this..like somehow it was not enough..so I am dealing..and being ok with what I can do instead of what I think I "should" do!
Hugs, Sarah

Long live the Revolution.

Thank you so much for the hugs - very much appreciated. I hate it when the PC isn't working right and refuses to "play nice" (still keeping everything crossed my piccies can be rescued).
