I´m taking part of Ayala Art 29 FACES in May project, so it´s been all about portraits this month. I sketch a lot while waiting for the kids at the school doors. 29 doesn´t look as it is going to happen, let´s say "about half of the 29 faces". ;)
Loved how different these two look.
Tamara Laporte posted this video on You Tube showing how she made one of her faces in 20 minutes. Inspired by her I made my first male portrait. I was trying shading by applying black pencil and then rubbing my finger over it. It worked well in the first case but my girl looks as if she has a stubble! Lol.
Another first: Can you notice this girl is tilting her head up? IRL you can see the shading better, it suggest the light coming from upside.
Another first: first time using real color on these sketches.

Your collection of faces is super.
I was never any good at 'people' I always preferred to draw things that could move away LOL
