Recycling dvds

This week we had the challenge to go through our own dvd collection. How did it go?
Carolyn Dube told me she had done it a while ago and it was like a time capsule. It was actually a really fun family night!

As I told you last week you can donate old dvds but what about those that you have with pictures or documents you no longer need? Here´s an idea: a post it notes holder for your fridge. I showed it on my own fridge for you to have an idea of size. :)
For the post it holder let´s start with the materials. Namely printed napkins and decoupage glue plus a dvd, of course. I chose a few bits and pieces for decoration too.
Remeber to take the white base off the napkins! That will leave you with a very thin printed layer. Brush decoupage glue on the dvd, place the napkin on it and gently brush the glue over the piece.
For a best finish, sand the excess off.
Cut some cardboard to measure for a second napkin. I used a cake mix box. Repeat the decoupage process.
Time to play with embellishments! In my case: blue wings, flowers with a fabric covered brad and an owl stamped image. Voilá!
Another thing I tried: a dvd mandala.
Noticed I said TRIED? Yea, you smart thing! Confession time. It didn´t turned out as I expected. Might work on it a bit more but most probable will erase it (easily wiped with a damp cloth) and start another thing.

Each Monday I bring you a task to declutter and organize your spaces and each Friday something practical for storage or crafty for recycling.

Super make Paula - I love the effect napkins give when glued on like this.

That CD 'curtain' is lovely.

These are great ideas. I'm going to send a few to a friend who teaches art at an elementary school. He's always looking for fun projects for his students that recycle materials.

So clever, my daughter made some at her youth club to hang on the trees so the birds could find the bird feeders hidden there for them - worked a treat
