Blog planning: big projects, small tasks

Blog planning wall

This is a picture of the wall for which we could never agree on a painting for. Some frames were too small for such a long wall, some too big for such a small room, some paintings too bold for hubbie, some too soft for me, resulting in 17 years of empty walls in the dining room and the perfect place for my crafty blog plan.

How do I start?

On my blog plan, each month has a calendar sheet and a card with the main blogging project for the month. Examples: 29 Faces for February and September, Blogtoberfest for October and Art Every Day Month for November. I know I participate in these every year. Others are added on a year to year basis. Some are added in the spur of  the moment because there are so many fun things to do!

The main focus for the month goes in a card on top of the calendar sheet. The smaller projects go on cards to the side. Time to decide what I want to achieve for each project.

Once the goals are in place for each project (easy to see in the 29 Faces one or the Art EVERY DAY, others take a bit more of consideration ) I can write the tasks for each project and schedule posting times into my daily planner.

I even put a weekly card with the "ONE thing to do this week" for each project so as not to overdo things!

Want to take a closer look? Here you are:

And even closer:

The wall was first seen as a guest blog post in I saw you dancing by Kat McNally.

I´m sure that reading about organizing and scheduling made you sigh and ponder. Do you wish you had the time or inspiration to blog more often? Do you keep promising yourself you'll blog more regularly? Do you wish you could blog as confidently as some of the bloggers you admire?
If you do and you feel like getting more comfortable in your blog space then I'd say you're ready for a fitting for your first Push-Up Bra Approach!

This is a series by Julie Kirk on blogging. Read the posts at your own pace. Apply what fits and come back and tell me about it! Either here or at my Facebook pageALL OF THE CONTENT IS AVAILABLE - for instant access - RIGHT NOW HERE. THERE'S NO NEED TO WAIT!

Yes, I followed the series the first time around. Yes, I got some cool tips that I adapted to me. Made them fit (Ha! See what I did? ) Yes, I will follow Julie again beacuse she is sweet, smart and funny. Let´s do this. Let´s make this happen.

Thanks so much Paula! Glad you could squeeze the Push-Up info in .... :-D [I'll be sharing it across social media ASAP]

I have a white board in my craft room with my ideas etc on ... but I can't say I'm as efficient with it as your blog-wall looks!

Julie :-)

We post our schedules digitally. Posting them on walls though creates more motivation maybe. :D

Now I could use that cuz Lord knows I run out of blogging ideas and don't always follow through with my promises to myself to blog more

I usually just have 3 post per week so I don't have to schedule much but this really keeps things organized.

I have charts and whatnot posted on my office wall like that. It helps to see the reminders all the time.

It is my favourite board nowadays Toni. :)

That´s the way my mind works Sian. I´m completely linear.

Thanks Natosha and Mary Ann!

I´m quite a pro at procastinating Kenneth. I need this to keep me on track.

Go ahead Michelle! Make it your own.

That´s the biggest board I´ll ever have Paula

Your series is fab Julie!

Rochkirtin I like crossing things off with pretty colours when done. :D

I´ve been participating in Julie´s MMIN for two years now Debs. :) I´m sure I´ll discover more to apply this time around.

One day it will happen Rena and you´ll find your flow in the new style.

Thanks Robert. I´m a very visual person. I need to see things right in front of me to understand/remember them.

I´m happy you liked it Lisa.

The way is to choose a method and keep it step by step. If you miss a step you just start again where you left it Michelle.

Start with a little corner Rebecca and take it from there.

In that case a notebook will do Sharon. If it feels like too much, reduce the scope and keep the schedule.

Start where you are with what you have. Draw your map and then plan where you want to go Patranilla.

Thanks Kristen!

Your posts are very detailed Franc. Those must take quite a big chunk of time!

I´d love to see your office Liz! :)

New plans are course corrections on the old one Payal.

From the look of your work you ARE organized Fab Perks.

I do the crossing off thing too, only in pretty colours. ;)

Getting it "out there" felt good Amanda. :) Hope you are feeling better now.
