Blog Hop Tour

Kim Switzer is a professional muse. As a Certified Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coach she is a practitioner of whimsy who shares her work at MuseCraft. She invited to me to hop along in a great thread of blogs. I´m honoured to have been chosen to take part in this.

Kim asked me questions about my work:

What am I working on?

What I feel is the next stage of my work: my own dot com site! I´m designing the content structure: organizing and planning, creativity (both the theory and the crafting) and social (the interviews and life in general). I have a wall full of sticky notes!

By the way, my 18 year old son is on the same journey. It is true that we teach by example. Here´s his wall:

How does my work differ from others of its genre?

There are a gazillion sites for youngsters starting their first job/project. There are a trillion blogs for young moms juggling work and home with toddlers. And even a few million for moms with young kids. Now by the time we have teens, we fall out of the market´s target. At least until we reach retirement and our disposable income becomes interesting for marketers again.

Who is talking to me? And by me I mean a fortysomething woman with teens still at home but who are managing their own planners, pets that are old enough to have vet problems, parents old enough to need extra care and technologies that seem slightly baffling? Not many. So I am stepping in.

I went through hours and hours of training all over the cyberworld, so you don´t have to. I take a theme that looks overwhelming, put all the pieces apart and show you how to put them back together and make them work.

This is not only about cyber content, I wrote a series of "Keep it simple, make it work" articles related to decluttering and organizing your home so you can find more time and space for your own creativity. And many interviews to artists and coaches who share the way they do things which is entertaining and inspiring.

Why do I write/create what I do?
I found this quote a few weeks ago and was totally fascinated by it. I searched the web for the whole poem and I copied parts of it onto scraps of papers that I taped to my walls.
This is very much in line with what I´ve been working on: a map of me and the constants in my life.
How does your writing/creating process work?
I am very much a "Crash and burn" type, which comes right after I procastinated like a pro. Include a headless chicken routine in between and you have an idea of how my life is like. ;)

There are three wonderfully creative persons that I would love to interview: I´ll tell you who they are on Wednesday´s post!

I love your son's planning wall. I am a 50 something mom with a teenage son and we both could use a wall of creativity. I, like you, procrastinate and then crash with the writing all at once. If I could have something to write notes on as I pass by in my daily routine I think my writing would be more in depth. Thanks for the ideas.

I love your little work section. I need to put up reminders like that too.

When you said that you're a 40 something with teens at home, I become more interested to look forward to your stories. I would like to know how it is to live in a life like that. :)

I am a slight crash and burn writer. I just know I better get it on when the creativity flows as it doesn't last long. Do you know how long I have been trying to write a blog about writer's block? I love your writing. It has great, subtle humor. Great job.

Good for you to have a certain thought process and reminders! I'm constantly lazy and just don't write on my blog because I'm not sure what I want to share on the day.

My process is simple.. I sit at the computer, gather some thoughts and start to write. If it flows great, and if not then i ask for assistance from my team.

Just seeing that a teen is doing something like this is really great. This is such a good example, though for all of us. I know I have difficulty finding my own peaceful nook :)

A crash and burn person, I think that is what I describe in my answers to this blog hop to, haha. I love organizing, will read your series on that now!

Take care!

I just actually started taping things up on my wall like this. It has made looking for the stuff I need a lot easier. I am at the other end of the spectrum. A 40-something year old mom whose kids are grown and now I have become the 24/7 caregiver to my mother who has Alzheimer's. Everybody has a story to tell your's is a great one. Can't wait to see what your future posts will be1

That's awesome that you'll be getting your own dot com. That's a big step! I tend to work best under pressure too.

I need reminders also. I love the idea of a muse. Everyone should have one. Good luck!

I think in today's world we all need reminders for a lot of things. One word notes can get the thought flowing also. I have little pieces of papers everywhere in my desk. Good luck on your dot com.

I am 48 with all grown children, my daughter is due soon so I will be helping a lot with the little one. Cannot imagine a teenager in the house LOL. I write a lot about food so it comes really natural. I do have a wall with pictures of places I want to live that reminds me to dream.

Your son plans so neatly and cleanly. He knows so well, what he has to do and when, so organized.

I have those crash and burn moments myself but that is how I learn and grow from them!

Decluttering is something I have been doing for a couple of years. Nothing was ever overly cluttered but I did have a lot of things that I just didn't need.

When you said you were 40 something I am shocked because you look like you were in the late 30's or 40 at the very least.

Get something Off your walls and buy some painters masking tape Julie. :D

Michelle, I love to see the ideas "out there".

It´s a slow development Rochkirstin. ;)

Thank you Paula! This comment is going into my "she ~gets~ me" box. :)

It all depends on why you blog Samantha, that sets the tone.

That is a great point about working with a team Robert.

If you have trouble finding it Lexie, create your own. Make it.

It´s so much fun being on the same blog hop as people I know Hanna.

I follow your stories Rena, you have an inspiring attitude in life.

They learn by example Ralff. This is an entrepreneurial home. :D

I´ve been running around in circles about it glitterrain. Saying it out loud here is part of the process of making it real.

Best wishes on your dot com Janelle!

Thank you Diana.

I´m still running in circles Liz. ;)

We must have gone to the same Uni in procastination Conny. :D

The possibilities are endless Franc. There are so many things to customize.

Thanks for the comment OAB.

You can visit Kim, Rhonda.

I have lots of little notebooks around every room Rebecca.

What an exciting stage in life April. There was a time I had postcards up.

The free flow combines with cards is a great process to get things out there and look at them from another perspective.

You are right Payal. He is very tidy in his notes. I´m more of a scrawler.

If we can learn, then it is a valuable experience Mom of 5

I´m at the same point mail4rosey. A lot went to charity projects.

Thanks Leira. I´m 47. :)

I love the planning wall. It is so nice to have space to be able to make lists. SO important!

How I came up with me writings is while I am sitting on our terrace watching people pass by on the street, some will say HI and some will tell me short stories and while I am holding my Phone I type whatever comes on my mind and save it and when I sit on my computer will revisit my notes and there is where my blog post will start. Thank you for sharing on your process.
