Setting my intention for August Moon

August Moon is a reflective writing challenge that creates space for you to reflect on the things that have led you here and consider ways to manifest a truly magnificent send-off for the year.

I¨ve known Kat from "I saw you dancing" for a long while. We "get" each other. :) I´ve participated in many of her writing challenges and even been a guest blogger for one.

She says that this year, August Moon is all about crossroads. And there it is that I am standing at the moment. I´ve blogged for almost 9 years here at Happysnappy and I´m moving on to a new place. I´ve also decided to give a Spanish blog a second try (it didn´t work out the first time around).

Day 1: setting the intention

For a full week (we´ll see if I take it over to the second one or change) I am going to "follow my intuition".
Let´s say this is an experiment. I have some strong pulls but sometimes I doubt them. Afterwards I think that following the first impulse would have been better. From little things like choosing a line at the supermarket check out to big things like launching a new website.

Day 2: what you love

My family of four (seen here as a desktop image)
Mountains and waterfalls
My Sony Vaio laptop
Folders, notepads and everything paper
Pens, markers and all kinds of pretty colours
Owls
Stamps
Digital photos
My Samsung S4 that takes decent pictures ;)

Day 3: what you are doing right now

Today is my half birthday. I´ve been waiting for this day for some time as I like to do things on "significant" dates. I´m going  to buy my own dot com domain for a self hosted WP based blog.

I´m working with web designer Ana Lynn Amelio from Our blended marriage on the setting up of my new place. I´ve been reading her WordPress posts and learning a lot of techie steps from her. She has a clear, practical style that even a WP newbie like myself can understand.

On the other hand, if you are planning on moving from Blogger to WordPress and would rather a pro handled that, you can contact her for that too.

That is it for #augustmoon14 so far.
If you want to receive Kat´s daily writing prompts until August 25th you can read more and suscribe here

I agree with you, the first pulse is the right one-usually and I think you should try the Spanish blog again ;)

I zeroed in on you hiring someone to switch over to WP. It looks like you are getting a good service for a decent price. I paid way to much for my WP site. Let me know when you switch over how satisfied you were with the service.

I know some people who blog in two languages on the same blog - some set it up as two different categories, some post the same post in both languages. It's an interesting concept. I tried blogging in my native language, Croatian, for a while and the words just didn't sound natural to me.

in blogger there are many limitations but for first user blogger is the best.

Good luck on your move to WP. I don't see myself ever doing that. I'm happy with my little blogger blog. But especially if you want to monetize your blog, I have heard WP is the best.

Wow! I like how you keep motivated and going forth. I don't know anything about WP, but can't imagine making a big switch over.

Best wishes on your birthday, and for an easy transition to WP. Love your intention to follow your intuition. Hope it leads you in all kinds of wonderful directions this week.

I've never heard of August Moon. But I do have to say that I love how you celebrate your half birthday. I think I'll have to try that!

It's nice to know how August Moon is about crossroads. I also used to blog with blogger and then switched to wordpress. I managed to do it on my own.

That sounds like a great challenge. I need to follow my intuition more often.

9 years is quite a long time to set up a blog 'home'! Congrats on taking the plunge to transition to Wordpress... I'm sure you'll love it. :)

I've been on Livejournal, Xanga, Blogger, Blogspot, and now Wordpress... and I think I'll be there for a while.

Good luck!

It must be hard going from blogger to wp. Luckily I started out with wp and I don't know anything else. However, I do want another wp site for doing other things. It's kind of like a new adventure. I can't wait until I have the time for 2 sites. Good luck with your new site!

I like the idea of AugustMoon. I visited the link that you shared and I would really really love to do it, but I probably will be a bit late.

Goodluck Paula, on your next journey and everything in between!

I recently went through the same decisions. I have been blogging at The Diary of an Alzheimer's Caregiver but I wanted to also try something different. That's why I started the Million Mile Blog about traveling and reviewing places I have been and offering planning ideas and researching. I feel very proud of it. It was a gut feeling that I went with...fingers crossed!

I love writing, keeping a journal, but it can be hard to find the time. It is nice to have challenges and new interesting formats to write in.

Unknown said...

Yeah, that first instinct is usually best and I also use a WP provider...saves me lots of headaches with techie issues

Unknown said...

It's really goo to write down your intentions now and then. I need to do this

I will Irena. :)
She is awesome Kathy, very friendly and incredibly fast in delivering.
It´s strange, isn´t it Ana? Our own language feels "foreign".
Blogger is sooooo easy to use though Aksh.
Taylor, experiment a bit with the light. It needs some help with that, not all ahots are great.
I´m starting over and micromoving part of the content CHrissy.
Ooooohhhh S5! Nice! Enjoy that one Tessa.
Blogger is very intuitive Apoorv. Easy to use as it is fast to see where things are.
I love my Blogger blog Risa and lot of locals work from one. As you say I want to take the site to a new level with workshops and I want the pro look.
Thanks Kathleen!
Her WP tutorials are awesome Robert. Clear and to the point.
Thanks Mash Elle.
I´m on my expanding phase Paula. I know it has a limit and then I go quiet for a while. ;)
Thanks Deborah. Trusting the instinct doen´t come naturally for me yet.
Mid year is a goo point to staop and have a look Melissa. I can course correct on the go.

Thanks Cindi!
Franc, I´ve been having a look at your site to see how you do things. :D
Try it Michelle and note the results. :)
Great to find another bilingual blogger Dee! I´ll visit you. :)
Lauriel Blogger was the "in" thing when I started. :D You have a lot of experience in moving.
Julie, the learning curve is quite steep with wp when you are coming from Blogger, which is much more intuitive.
Thanks Russ. :) No such thing as too late for journaling prompts. And there is always the next moon to use them. ;)
Michael, people will follow you from one to another. Plus you can re-direct your old address to the new one. Readers will only notice the redecoration.
Congratulations on th enew site Rena. Doing something fun for you is a great distresser.
Finding time to do things can indeed get tricky Ann.
I´m just starting to play with buttons Sharon. :)
I find it to be a good guide CHristie.
{happy hug Kat} Thanks for the prompts! :)
Still finding my way on Wp Leira.
Thanks Patranile.
Great to see you here Anne! Thanks for the visit. :)
