Word of the Year for 2011: VOICE

It all started at the bakery shop with this:
This is a "cremona". It´s a very flaky bread in a crown shape.

There were two cremonas left. The assistant took the one on the left hand side. Looks good, right? Well, I liked the one on the right better. Did I say anything? No. Why? She had already taken it, there were other persons in the queue, ... you know the drill. I kept my mouth shut. *sigh* That lead me to my Word of the Year 2011.

VOICE

As in letting myself be heard. As in finding my artistic voice. As in singing out loud. As in making my opinion to be known. As in asking for what I want. As in saying I love you to my friends even if I sound slightly odd or like a stalker (I love you!!!!).

It is also a logical development from the Word of the Year 2010: LISTEN
Listen was intended as being aware of what was being offered to me, as in paying attention to my surroundings, to the messages that were being sent. All that listening lead 2010 to be known as "the year of changes" as we took many chances that would have been lost otherwise.

Where will my voice be heard? Working on all these projects:

Daily:
365, a picture a day. {about 270 in 2010, hoping to do better}
Flying Spark, daily inspiration by Gumnut.

Weekly:
Pencil Lines sketch on Sundays for my scarpbooking. {not compulsory as some sketches don´t work for me.}
Wishcasting Wednesdays by Jamie Ridler. {I also have her book, which I will work on most probably on weekends}

Monthly:
The Sketchbook Challenge. This is to broaden my artistic knowledge.
Creative Every Day by Leah Piken has a monthly theme.
Full Moon Boards, lead by Jamie Ridler.

Workshops:
Strathmore Online. More theory and practice.

I will listening to other voices too: reading more books, listening to music, reading blogs, watching movies, learning from workshops.

And when Jaime asks "What do you want to say yes to?", I answer:

I wish to say YES to my voice being heard. I wish to say YES to all my projects actually being completed and "out there".

Oh I know how you feel - I rarely speak out on occasions like that. It looks yummy though **grin**

You have picked a very interesting word for 2011 I look forward to seeing how you progress with it

Finding your voice is part of living with integrity of your true Self. I am confident that you will not only find it, but that when you speak others will listen. As you wish for yourself, so do I wish for you as well!

Paula, you have such a generous heart. It comes out in everything you write and create.

I love VOICE. I'm going to use it too. The scene you described in the bakery touched me so much because I think we all do that all the time. And its just silly.

The more we give ourselves permission to ask for what we want, the more we allow others to do the same and the universe provides enough for all of us.

Staying small doesn't work for anyone.

Thanks too for the reminder about the sketchbook challenge!

Paula, that you for sharing your project list. Since I have been SO blessed by the Wishcastings, I have been interested in adding other things into my year but wasn't sure what might fit with me. Your list is a great place to start. :)

Voice is a powerful word. I work with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, so VOICE is a gift I have the honor of witnessing come alive after it has been squelched.

As you wish for yourself, dear Paula, so I wholeheartedly wish for you also.

OMG Paula! I LOVE your word! I just started this word for 2011 when I saw so many other bloggers doing it and I thought it was a great idea! Mine is "prosperity" because of financial difficulties I have had because of our US economy.

And I love how you listed all of the projects you are doing and focusing on! I really feel like blogging for the past year has helped me find my :voice" too so I can relate to your word! And I am SO loving this Wishcasting community and these prompts from Jamie are helping with some powerful writings on my blog. Thanks so much for stopping by!! :)

As Paula wishes to find her "voice" for expressing her needs, wants and opinions as well as her creative voice, so I wish for her as well.

Wishing you a year of Love, peace, prosperity and lots of art projects!

xoxo Valerie
