Paint Party Friday #11

Aka: Going back to basics, where I paint with words, coloured threads, papers and actual acrylics paints. :)

Part 1: First, I was a writer. Even before I knew how to write. One of my first memories is about me sitting on the floor with an open notebook, writing a letter to Robin, telling him Catwoman was not up to any good. :D I just dated myself, didn´t I? ;) I´m a flower power girl.

I´m going back to writing next month. This time non fiction as I will be going through Julia Cameron´s "The artist´s way" again. My first time was in 2007 and it sparkled everything that came after that in my creative life. Let´s see where it takes me now.
Part 2: Then I was a photographer, asking for my first camera at 6. Please remember the date and the place. It was not an everyday thing for a kid my age here to have her own camera. My parents were cool like that. :)

I´m still going strong on my 365 project this year. And I usually go beyond the one-a-day thing.

Part 3: The first week we lived in Chester (UK) I visited the local information center and discovered cross stitching. I bought myself a kid´s kit and figured it out. I became a cross stitcher.Chestival

I will be finishing my dragon soon. Can you see the tiny white spots in between? I need to take one thread out of the six of one colour, do the same for another colour and then cross stitch with both together... about four squares and start again.

Part 4: While visiting my friend Mónica in the US, she showed me her baby´s book. I bought an issue of "Making Memories" magazine and joined an on line community. I met many scrapbook fairy godmothers who helped me out with my first steps. I became a scrapbooker and filled many albums (a dozen for the kids, two Christmas, two trips, three weddings & first communions, all 12x12 plus four family and three home in A4). I have windled down the number of pages.

In two days I matted & glued 12 new pages. No embellies but the pictures and the relevant info is there. I´m back in business. :D
Part 5: I started my painting classes in March.

I´ve been working on a little something for my girl. Finished the decoupage, onto the painting part today.

Wow - you really are a creative all-rounder! I absolutely love the mirror/shelf you are making for your little girl - it looks brilliant.

Your dragon must be such a labour of love. I never tried cross-stitch as i can barely sew a button back on a shirt but my mum is pretty good at it.

I don't know how you find the time for all your artistic endeavours as I can barely find time just to paint!

Well done on how far you have progressed your cross stitch - the mixing of colours for stitches can be a bit of a pain but the finish is worth it.

Love the decoupage - fab colours.

Continue with all your creativity it's part of what makes "You".

Have a good weekend my friend.

You may have dated yourself LOL, so I'm not going to tell you I had a crush on Batman when I was little, what was I thinking, it then became a crush on David Cassidy, oh goodness LOL, great post, great projects :)

So great to learn more about you, Paula! I used to write in notebooks before I could write, too. I filled so many of them. It's wonderful that your parents gave you a camera at such a young age. I would have loved that. My parents wouldn't let me use theirs.

Your cross stitch is amazing (I think I've said that before, but it bears repeating!!)!

Your decoupage shelf is lovely. Your daughter will love it!

Wow, stunning work! *__* I'm amazed!

(and hah, I had to google "Kudamon and Captain Sampson" as I had no idea what you meant in your comment you gave me... XD Now I get the reference and see the resemblance! Hey don't give me that look, I never really watched Digimon, it's Pokémon all the way for me!)
