Paint Party Friday #17

Last week I told you about applying masking tape and how to make a pattern.
This week´s theme: In goes the red one.
I applied red acrylics on the plywood that had been painted yellow and masked. I was not going for a uniform look (my mastery of the brush is still not that good, so I went for a random pattern. The red had a bit of black, gold and gel medium. No, I had no theory, I was just winging it. :D
Took the masking tape off. Voilá.
Same thing on paper.
Not the same results. Paper was too wet and I ripped part of it while pulling the masking tape off.
Another update from last weekend:
Tatiana is 12!!! We invited her classmates for a Wii championship and tea. The huge amount of giggling, yelling and snorting of a dozen girls is so much fun.

I´ve spent a bit more of time on line too, as I have been surfing for videos, quotes, links and interviews for our The Artist´s Way project. We are reading Chapter 1 so far, still time to join in. Even if you don´t feel called to it you can still get a wealth of info and {gentle} reminders at my Paula - Buenos Aires Facebook page.

You can visit other artists who gather here for our Paint Party Friday hosted by Kristin and Eva.

The masking tape has created a great effect Paula.

Hope you are not too worn-out after what sounds to have been a fun but hectic gathering for the birthday party.

Have a great weekend
Toni xx

Funny, I was at the store the other day looking for masking tape, thanks to you. :) I really want to try something like this and I know it'll come in handy for other, larger paintings...but the drug store was not the place to look. I'll find it elsewhere, I'm sure.

Loving where The Artist's Way is taking me. It's my favorite summer routine...which will hopefully carry on into the winter. I've also requested two of Julia Cameron's newer books from the library, which should come in next week. Love her teaching method...and I realize I did have The Artist's Way ON TAPE...(cassette)...and her voice is very soothing, btw. I remember trying this once, and not making it through the book. This time is feeling totally different, thanks to you and our group. :)

Hi Paula! I'm a fan of the masking tape and paint combo but I like to pre tear mine down the middle to get the happy accident look you got when the paper came up. Can't wait to see what it evolves into. Happy PPF and Happy birthday Tatiana!

Happy Birthday to Tatiana! Great experiment - you learned so much (as did we - vicariously) -both what works and what doesn;t. Lovely effect.

Experimentation is the best approach to create new artwork. Well Done!
