Andrea is a mom of two, Briana and Martín, who decided to let go of her job when her daughter was born. She´s been making arts & crafts since she was Little. She started taking her ceramics classes at age 4! By the time she was 15 sumi-e entered her life (a type of oriental paint, similar to watercolours) and later her personal search was around design, furniture recycling and painted objects for which she developed her own techniques. Those are what she teaches at Limas y tulipanes (Limes and tulips) her art workshop
When she is not teaching, what Andrea likes the most is to leave the city and drive around with her family, wander around little towns, meet people, drink mate with friends, cook and draw.
I asked her about her creative space:
- 1) The day you stepped into your current creative space for the first time, did you already know how you wanted your studio to look like or did the design evolve from the actual space?
When I decided to have my own workshop I transformed a space in my home that was destined to family gatherings into a playroom – workshop. It was built to accomplish both functionalities.
2) After the work is done, do you clean up after each piece, after each day or whenever you can´t find the table anymore?
I usually spread a lot of things while I work, so I need to be constant with order. I try to tidy up away after each piece.
3) Which is your best time of the day to create? Do you have music on or do you prefer to work in silence?
Silence, without a doubt. I love to connect to my own thoughts. I really like mornings best or early afternoon, right after lunch. At this point of my life with two small kids my time schedule revolves around theirs.
4) Which is your next project?
I have two right now: a collaborative piece of art where the audience is part of the process made out of packets of cigarettes for “World ´s Clean Air Day” (November 20th ) and I´m preparing a stall for a Christmas Fair in December.
5) Where can we find you on line?
