Deborah Nicholas nurtures the Country Heart and Home

14 AEDM 21 Deborah NicholasWhen Deborah Nicholas launched her book  Gifts from Your Kitchen I invited her to share some of her recipies on my old blog. Note: that blog is no longer active but I keep it as an archive for 9 years of work.
Now this female powerhouse will show you some of her creations. Handmade, beautifully decorated objects like lip balms, painted frames, shadow boxes, candles, cupcakes and many more wonderful gifts. All made with love, talent and extreme care to detail.

The day you stepped into your creative space for the first time, did you already know how you wanted your studio to look like or did the design evolve from the actual space?

Not a clue! I do so many different things, make so many different projects that I would never be able to stick with one design space. Im working between the kitchen, living room, dining room and even the garden (not allowed spray cans inside after an unfortunate accident involving the kitchen door! – oops) I do know that i love fairy light and lots of pretty things – things i can look at and smile at too…..ooh and pink!

After the work is done, do you clean up after each piece, after each day or whenever you can´t find the table any more?

I wish i could say yes and im sure my hubby does too but nope – I have bits of threads on the floor and please don´t ask where we have found those little squares from the back of double sided sticky pads! The kids know now though that if they need to borrow anything that I know where EVERYTHING is – it may look messy but its MY organized mess!

Which is your best time of the day to create? Music or silence?

Generally with the tv on in the background and anytime i can get 5 minutes between dealing with one child or another! Now that Evie is at school and we only have Amelia at home it means when she goes down for a nap i can sneak a little time to create but other than that its 5 minutes stolen here and there!

Which is your next project?
My next project is the bathroom and Book #2! Not at the same time unless i decide to pop some bath bombs in the book this time! ooh now theres an idea!
