The Joy diet: week 5

New week of "The joy diet" tribe, coordinated by Jamie.

The process this week:

1) Read "Menu item # 4 Creativity"
2) Phone my mom and whine about being stuck with the book.
3) Listen to my mom telling me that "The joy diet" is supposed to lead me to a happier life (she has been reading it too) and not to become obssesed with following it to the letter as it had been leading me to be UNhappy. In other words "to loosen up". By the way: I just noticed it would have been a perfect topic for Jamie´s question "What do you wish to let go?" Letting go of the "perfect or nothing"of the "everybody else it doing it well and I can´t" even of the "WHEN is my epiphany coming?!?!?!".
4) Read chapter again.
5) Feel stuck with it again.
6) Reading this post by Serena. The sentence "The key to recovery is to take action" sent the alarm bells ringing. By the time I read "Even the simplest of actions is taking a step in the right direction" I was ready to create.
7) Go upstairs to my craft room and create these four scrapbbok layouts:

I think we all have our troubles with this chapter. Some say it's simply crap, some say, it's going so deep.
I have my difficulties too.
I think there is too much pressure in doing one chapter a week. We all need to slow down.

Look at how creative you were with your scrapbook pages...they're gorgeous!! Your mother gave you excellent advice (aren't mothers good at that?!? lol!). You don't need to be obsessed with doing anything to "the letter" and I believe the best part of this book (and so far I can't say there's a lot of "good" in it) is that it gives us choices. We choose what will work for us and what won't. What works for me might be the worst thing for you. Trust yourself Paula...when you read through it, just as you would anything else you read...trust what you know to be true for you and then don't question yourself. The right path for you will become evident. Here's to wishing you find it -- and I know you will.

I love that you call The Joy Diet group a tribe. It put a nice little smile on my face.

Hey fellow tribe member, love the scrap book pages, I had a difficult time with this chapter, actually it seems like alot of us did. For me I am just taking what I can from it, there is some golden nuggets as I think Kathryn said and what does not sit well with me I leave behind. See you next week!

Have compassion for yourself... there is a lot of stuff in this book that is personal and deep and emotional, and we all have our unique ways of approaching it. Here's to splendid imperfection.... grabbing onto what we resonate with, and tossing aside the rest! :)

:-)Like Jamie says "This is your journey" Do whatever works for you. Many Good wishes.

What fun pages! & sweet observations. I didn't think I was having trouble with the chapter, but noticed myself not paying much attention to it!! Hmm
& found myself mostly focusing on being in the moment & paying attention this week! Oh, & doing some sewing :) (inc. a creative interpretation of a pattern!)

I think in working a chapter a week puts us under pressure to perform...but, as Jamie says, this is your journey so be gentle and seek out and do the things that bring you joy. Your scrapbook pages turned out great! I'm so pleased my post helped you ~ xo

How wonderful that you are imperfect just like all of us. Sigh of relief! I feel that my writing is not personal enough so it might come across as perfect when really I am splendidly imperfect.

beautiful scrapbook pages!! So many people think we are going too fast, but I think we are just suppose to scratch the surface and circle back a time or two to refine ourselves. Thank you for sharing your process. It really helps to see how everyone is responding to the weeks topic. Take care.

I love your post and I love how you found a space to come to terms with the book in your own unique way. Thank you so much for sharing.

You're the scrap booking queen. :) Don't feel too bad. I stalled this week, not because I wasn't being creative but because I couldn't think about it. lol Hugs!
