AEDM 13 Day 23 Tammy Doiel presents a Thank You Gift for Teachers

The first Christmas crafty post of this season!
When I found Tammy Doiel´s Creative K Kids I knew I´d love to try some of her projects. Creative K Kids is a blog about her family that includes crafts and activities that they have done as well as many of their favorite recipes.

The one I chose first was the  "Thank You Gifts to Teachers", right on time for our end of classes here in Buenos Aires. She even gives you a list of gifts to keep in mind which pleased my List Maker self immensely. :)

For her family school presents mean:
  • A gift for the children’s school teachers
  • A gift for their Sunday School teachers
  • A gift for their Wednesday night children’s program teachers
  • A gift for their music teachers , P. E. teacher ,  piano teacher
  • And the list could go on!
Now it is your turn to make your own school gifts list!

Are you looking for inexpensive, meaninful gifts that you can make for those important persons in your kids lives? Check this one out!

You can read the recipe for the yummy rolls here in this post
Download the cute f*r*e*e printable at her site by clicking here.
Once you have it, you can follow her instructions. Do what she did after printing them :

  • I had the kids decorate the outside of the printable – making sure they did not get glitter on the non-decorated space where I was going to stick the picture. Since I have developed a great friendship with tacky glue, and I wanted to make sure the decorations did not come off, tacky glue was used!  So we put some drops of glue where the confetti was and the kids used Q-tips to spread the glue out.  We then sprinkled glitter on those spots. They also put more glue on and put on pom poms or glass rhinestones or sequins. This decoration does not have to be done, but I wanted the kids to have a part in doing the ornaments for their teachers.

  • You could cut out a rectangle and place the picture under the hole that you cut out so that it is a frame–but that was way too time consuming for me.  So I just used my scrapbooking stickers on the back of the photos and stuck it on top of the printable.
  • Lastly, I punched a hole in the top, put a paper hole reinforcement on the back of the ornament, and then put a ribbon through the hole to hang the ornament from.
Such a simple and fun project to do with the kids. You can use the same concept and make your own design for the decorative frame. The possibilities are endless!

Week 51 2012

For Creative Every Day 2012, I´m taking a picture a day for the whole year. This is my third time around with the Pic-a-day project and at the end of each month I make a mosaic of the month´s pictures. I´ve taken 340 out of the possible 350 pictures for 2012 so far.

Sunday, December 16th (341/351): third Advent Sunday, three lit candles, 16 "doors" missing from the Advent calendar.
Monday, December 17th (342/352): got a camera connection kit for the iPad Mati is taking to Germany so he can download his pictures. As you can see photographs are important in this family. ;)
Tuesday, December 18th (343/353): packing for 10 weeks away. This is the second bag, mostly gifts for the hostess German family and "water related" elements like his swimming backpack and toiletteries.
Wednesday, December 19th (344/354): Tati asked me for a "before" picture.
Thursday, December 20th (345/355): Mati was the first in line for the check in desk. He was absolutely ready for his first solo trip.  By "solo" I only mean without us, as he was flying with 54 other students from our school and two teachers. He will be staying with a German family for ten weeks in Cham. He will be going to school with four of his classmates, the other kids will be staying in different cities.
Friday, December 21st (246/256): a visit to La Revistería. My girl choosing manga books to buy.
Saturday, December 22nd (347/357): friends for dinner in our patio. Perfect summer night to be outside.
{Sunday snippets}: is a collection of photos from your week. This way I can also add the pics that didn´t make "picture of the day" but are still significant to document our family life.  Stop by {tinniegirl}'s blog for more or to play along! I´ll be playing too. :) The tagline is: "No need for words.  Let the pictures tell your story."  Sitting on my hands here not to be too wordy. Please feel free to ask anything you want to know about them. :)

What do you wish for this summer? On the third week of Advent

Today Jamie asks "What is your Winter wish?" As I am on the other side of the planet I will adapt the question to my hemisphere. :)

Mati is leaving for Germany tomorrow for TEN weeks. This will be a very different summer for us.
My wish is to keep our communication fluid with both kids. To support and encourage both our boy who is leaving and our girl who is staying. To learn how to be together even while being miles apart.

Week 50 2012

For Creative Every Day 2012, I´m taking a picture a day for the whole year. This is my third time around with the Pic-a-day project and at the end of each month I make a mosaic of the month´s pictures. I´ve taken 340 out of the possible 350 pictures for 2012 so far.

Sunday, December 9th (334/344): last week I posted pictures of the kids with César Franco, the singer for the latin version of the Digimon and other animé series songs. We queued for hours for his autograph and it was totally worth it as he took the time to make each kid feel the only one. He chatted with everyone making eye contact and took as many pics as required. He even sang for somebody´s cell phone for a kid that couldn´t go that day! On Sunday we went to his main concert and were this close to the stage. :) He showed he is a really talented singer when the music went off and he continued singing a capella. Awesome stage performance.
Monday, December 10th (335/345): advent calendar.

Tuesday, December 11th (336/346): more advent calendar, this time a pass for a visit to a city centre animé shop (see a trend here? ;) )
Wednesday, December 12th (337/347): my son is soooooo like me, he called me to take this picture at his computer on 12.12.12 at 12:12am In case you are wondering, that is a Minecraft game on his screen.
Thursday, December 13th (338/348): WARNING TMI picture. :D New undies. Ladies, did you know you have to wear pink on Christmas Eve?
Friday, December 14th (339/349): Santa is early this year and coming from Singapore. Thank you Betty! It was such a delightful surprise!
Saturday, December 15th (340/350): I mumbled and grumbled a bit because I forgot to take my camera with us today. Buenos Aires city centre is sooooooo beautiful! And we visited some cool shops too. ;) Best I could do was to take their cards and take a pic of those. :D We had wanted to visit Coketa & Coketo for quite a while and as it was Maxo´s birthday and they had a special Harry Potter sale (he´s a big fan) it was the perfect time. We also bought some gifts for the German family who is going to be Mati´s hostess.

12:13 and the world is still here. Yes, I have a Miku Chrome background. :)

Second week of Advent

For each week of Advent I want to focus on 4 areas. I will keep the areas but change the focus for each week of the season. :) Want some organizative structure with good spiritual intentions? I´m your girl. :D

Week 1 revisited:
Intention: Love
Decoration: door
Room: Kitchen
Christmas tradition: cards

On to week 2

Intention: Peace
Second Advent Sunday
I have taken to lighting candles while I work on the computer and each night on the mantlepiece. I breathe deeper when coming towards somebody who is already stressed. Emotions tend to run high during the season. I bring my own Peace with me. ;)

Decoration: Christmas tree
Traditionally Christmas trees go up on Virgin Mary´s Day (December 8th) and stay up until the 12th Day of Christmas (January 6th) when the The Wise Men arrive with gifts for children (and young at heart) just like they brought gifts for Jesus so many years ago.

Room: bedrooms
TASK OF THE WEEK: make your room your sanctuary. A place where to retreat when the festivities get overwhelming. A place to rest and re-energize.
*Get your surfaces clean. Get rid of clutter on your bedside tables (Just throw everything IN it if need be ;) )
*Quick dusting of headrests, wardrobes and appliances. Get that energy moving!

Christmas tradition: gifts

Now my kids are older and Santa doesn´t get a long list of toys things can get tricky. This month for the Advent calendar they are getting "experiences" like tickets to the Animé Convention. :)

The images were taken this month and they are part of the December Views project.

For Creative Every Day 2012, I´m taking a picture a day for the whole year. This is my third time around with the Pic-a-day project and at the end of each month I make a mosaic of the month´s pictures. I´ve taken 333 out of the possible 343 pictures for 2012 so far.

Sunday, December 2nd (328/337): our first candle for the Advent Candles Crown. I´m in the picture, for a change. ;)
Monday, December 3rd (329/338): celebratory lunch at the mall for the kids. They both did brilliantly at school this year. Tati chose sushi and Mati an extra bacon burger as a treat.
Tuesday, December 4th (329/339):
I forgot! :(

Wednesday, December 5th (330/340): Danielle LaPorte launched her "Desire map" programme and I attended her virtual workshop.
I have a seriesof funny picturea á la Brady Bunch where she seems to be checking out my mate and then my laptop. *giggle* I´m easily amused.

Thursday. December 5th (331/341): current issue of the Oh La Lá! magazine.

Friday, December 7th (332/342): my son is one of the new set of flag carriers students due to his awesome academic grades. Yay for Mati!
Saturday, December 8th (333/343): traditionally Christmas trees go up on December 8th.
