AEDM 13 Day 08 when some things fall into place.

I´m always experimenting. Trying something out. This time I´m paying attention to the influence music has on my work. For the "Life on the Go" group where we share pictures taken with our phones the prompt today was "old". So I looked for my oldest album. One I knew absolutely by heart and turned the volume up to blasting proportions. ;) Fun times.
Wonder which my oldest album is? This one:

"A Hard Day´s night" by The Beatles. I was 5 when I heard it for the first time. My neighbours from the 7th floor played it constantly with their windows open. One day I just opened the door to our 8th floor flat and took the stairs down. I knocked on their door because I was too short to ring the bell and asked nicely about the music. The girl wrote the name down for me and I ran upstairs to show it to my mother. "THIS is what I want for my birthday" I still have the vinil LP. Years later when I visited the UK for the first time I bought it again on cd.

This is what I created on November 7th. "Shared godfather".
This is how my working table looked.

What do you wish to discover?

Every Wednesday I participate in Jamie Ridler Studios´ Wishcasting Wednesday practice. Knowing what I wish for helps me guide my actions.

Today Jamie asks "What space do you wish to discover?". You can participate too by joining the Linky party at Jamie´s prompt post.

Today the Universe seems to be talking to me through my iPod. :D I had it in shuffle and the first song provided when I turned it on before reading the prompt was this one:

"When I Go Out With Artists"

When I go out with artists
They talk about language and the cubists and the dadaists
And I try to catch their meanings
And keep up with all the martinis
I don't know which should be my favorite paintings

If I could see, if I could see, if I could
See all the symbols, unlock what they mean
Maybe I could, maybe I could, maybe I
Could meet the artists, and get to know them personally

If I were David Byrne
I'd go to galleries and not be too concerned
Well I would have a cup of coffee
And I'd find my surroundings quite amusing and
People would ask me which were my favorite paintings

What if the artists ran the TV?
All the ads would be for fine scotch whiskey:
Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, the whole single malt family

The artists of the future
Will make up new things and different nomenclatures
And they'll stand amongst their pictures
And they'll sing and laugh and quote from scriptures and
When they go home they'll dream of brilliant paintings

I wish to discover all kinds of creative people: visual artists, sculptors, collagers, photographers, knitters, painters, crafters, decorators, cooks, bakers ... What´s your gift? What do you create? Drop me a line and let´s chat. :)

The Sountrack of your Life

Each Monday this month I bring you a task to organize your spaces and each Friday something practical or crafty for storage.

August is our audiovisual month and this week will be devoted to cds. Why do I say cds and not LPs or cassettes? A matter of time, literally. Just as it happened with the printed pictures, going through all of your music collection may take more time than you are willing to spend on decluttering this week. Let´s make it easier on us and say cds. :)

TASK FOR THE WEEK: go through your cd collection and separate those that no longer resonate with you, those that you never really liked.  So you noticed I said separate and not toss? ;) Yep, we´ll be doing something with the discarded ones on Friday.
While you go through each cd make groups that make sense to you like: rock & pop, jazz, classical, international, Christmas, soundtracks ...
My family´s ecclectic taste. One cd for each. Any guesses which is whose?

Back in 2010 I posted each week the cd I had downloaded to my laptop. It was the Sountrack of my Life. Not many have changed. What about you? What´s your history with music? Do you have an all time favourite?

Advent 2010, Day 6: Making

Upload Monday. This week´s choice: Robbie Williams / Intensive care.
~Did you ever try to change your life? ~ Spread your wings

Reverb 10 project

December 6 – Make. What was the last thing you made? What materials did you use? Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it? (Author: Gretchen Rubin)
Chocolate pudding for dessert. Just add milk and voilá. :D If you want the real thing (as in food that doesn´t come ready made in a box), visit my foodie friend Suzie. :)

December view for today: Tati´s new bike. She had completely outgrown her previous one so it was in the cards. She brought her annual report card today. Brilliant! We took her to the local bike shop where she chose a girly model in pink and white, with technical touches which I don´t know how to say in English. :D
Frida was happy too. She usually smiles when we are outside running around. *heart*

AEDM 2010: Day 16

After downloading Pink´s album last week, I bet you never thought this could be my choice for this week. Talk about ecclectic: ABBA greatest hits.

Today´s chapter from Cameron´s book talks about grounding housework. Taking the repetitive chores as a way to give artists structure out of the creative tide that may sweep them.

Jackey (~waving at Jackey~ The day you have a blog I´ll link to it so everyone can see the cool stuff you make with your granddaughter :) ) asked me today what I was neglecting to be able to keep up with Art Every Day Month.

I have been streamlining housework since January when my help left. After months of trying doing things in different ways I have found the most efficient order to do housework. I thrive on structure so ironing goes from 4 pm to 5 pm everyday (except Fridays that we visit my mom). The rest is a matter of focus. I NEED to get things done as quick as possible to be able to have some spare moments to craft.

Mari also asked me if I sleep. :D Yes, just a bit less this month so I can visit AEDMers every evening. I visit my friends/people I already know I like first and then I do weird number combinations with meaninful numbers. Eg: birthdays of female relatives, so I visit #9 (mom), #21 (cousin Alexa), #8 (aunt Norma), #12 (myself) and so on. Yes, I have a big family. Lol! If I don´t comment on your blog everyday, it doesn´t mean you are not one of my friends. It´s just that I don´t want to be considered a stalker!!! :D

AEDM 2010: Day 8 Hot weather and music

It´s been kind of hot this weekend.

36°C deserves a bit of water for both cousins. In the picture taken this past Sunday my daughter Tatiana (11 years old) and my bil´s daughter V (1 year old). Their age difference is like mine with my favourite cousin. She was my doll in my childhood, my shadow in my teens and my great friend nowadays. She is also Mati´s godmother.

For my cd download this Monday, I chose my newest purchase: Funhouse tour by P!nk. I want to dance like her, aeroacrobatics included!
No, I haven´t tried acrobatics yet but I´m getting stronger with yoga and Pilates.

My art for the day: Bonita.
On Mother´s day 1997 my brother in law gave his mother a dog as a present. As she loves poetry I suggested my mil to call her Bonita (Pretty) which was Pablo Neruda´s home name according to an article on the paper that same day. :) Matias has always been very close to Boni and now they are both in their teens they still play like puppies. *heart*
Papers are The Breath Collection by Prima, K&Co tag and Thickers alpha stickers.

AEDM 2010: Day 1 Introducing myself

Hello friends and friends not yet made!
My name is Paula. I am a scrapbooker, cardmaker, art journaler, sahm of 2 Argentinian.

How´s that for labeling? ;) I may add: I´m in my forties and live in Buenos Aires with my hubbie, our teenage son, our preteen daughter and our female
Weimaraner.

I´m currently working on several projects:

The sound of paper: Starting from scratch. 70 creative exercises by Julia Cameron. I´m half way through these. I write one every day Mon to Fri. Sometimes I get stuck on one and catch up with the easier ones, writing two on the same day.

Upload Monday: I´m downloading my cds to my laptop. One a week, I choose them depending on my current mood. Upload sounded better than download. :D
Today´s update (It is Monday after all :D ): Gorillaz, by Gorillaz.
Yes, I have an ecclectic taste in music. Just check the tag Music to see what I´m talking about, lol.
I listened to a track on Friday evening and bought the cd on Saturday. Now I´m humming things like "I´ve got mmmmMMMmmmm in my mmm MMM Lallalalalalala The future is coming on" *grin*

Wish casting Wednesday: creativity coach (that is just a label that I used to get the concept across. She is the most freaking cool /supportive / elegant / sweet / smart / fun coach you´ll meet was a tad long :D ) Jamie Ridler asks a question for you to ponder.

“Wish on everything. Pink cars are good, especially old ones. And stars of course, first stars and shooting stars. Planes will do if they are the first light in the sky and look like stars. Wish in tunnels, holding your breath and lifting your feet off the ground. Birthday candles. Baby teeth.” – Francesca Lia Block

The Happy Book on Fridays. Another project led by Jamie.

My Full Moon boards are turning up late this year and are mostly beginning of the month boards. And sometimes not even that. *sigh* Still I have 9 out of 10 and planning on #10 of 11.

With AEDM I will keep these running and will add my dragon cross stitching and some scrapbooking and card making. An ATC a day would be cool too. :D

See you around. :)

Upload Monday: Grease

Have you noticed? The 20th Anniversary edition! Back from 1998. *giggle* And it was sooooooooo cool because it brought the interactive cd for your computer too.

A bit of pretiness for this Monday afternoon. From my mil´s garden.

Upload Monday: A Chorus Line

Ooops, I did it again. ;) Posting my Upload Monday late. In my defense this was actually uploaded on Monday. I just never downloaded the picture.

My choice for this week: A Chorus Line, 1975 version.

I wanted some expansive singing this week (as in "top of your lungs" expansive). Like "I hope I get it", because there is hope I get the show on the road. Or like "I can do that", even though I have no sister (You are about to Google the lyrics, aren´t you? ). I´m glad to report "Dance: ten, Looks: three" doesn´t resonate with me as it did back in the eighties.

So your Full Moon board is late too, honey?
Welllllllll, my very linear train of thought needs the board to be at the beginning of the month.
The first asignment from The sound of paper: starting from scratch by Julia Cameron was to create a board from mag images. Sweet. I love my multitasking. :D
Shoes have been around my boards all year. Funny thing is I like how they look but I don´t actually buy that many shoes. Are they pointing to the grounding? To the fashion sense? The femeneity?
The state agents ad was used in an Internet sense: getting to visit that many homes from my own.
I was drawn to that desk with the dolls on the side and the very tidy containers on top. I think it is the stronger image of the lot.

Upload Monday: Oh, no by OK GO

When I become interested in something, I tend to go over board. As in "get to know e-ve-ry-thing" about the subject. As in surf the net, looking for sites, pics and videos. Yea, as in slightly obsessed. {By now those who know me are rolling on the floor laughing about the "slightly" comment}

Now it´s the turn of OK GO. You might remember the very popular "Here we go again" video aka the treadmill video. No? Really? It´s here then. ;)

I checked the local music stores and I found one that had their "Oh no" album. Drove to the Unicenter mall to find the closest Jenny store and got it. Yaaaaaaaaayyyyyy! Only one left and it´s all mine! :D

They are coming to take me away

After admitting on Facebook that I like living in my head lately, I got a message from Boo which reminded me of one of my favourite songs:

They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa

from: Dr. Demento's Delights
Warner Bros. 1975 BS 2855 0698

Remember when you ran away and I got on my knees and begged you not to
leave because I'd go berserk?? Well...
You left me anyhow and then the days got worse and worse and now you see
I've gone completely out of my mind.. And..

They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!
They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa
To the funny farm. Where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be
happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're
coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!!!!

You thought it was a joke and so you laughed, you laughed when I had said
that loosing you would make me flip my lid.. RIGHT???
I know you laughed, I heard you laugh, you laughed you laughed and
laughed and then you left, but now you know I'm utterly mad... And..

They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa,
They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa.
To the happy home. With trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket
weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes
and they're
coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!!

I cooked your food, I cleaned your house, and this is how you pay me back
for all my kind unselfish loving deeds.. Huh??
Well you just wait, they'll find you yet and when they do they'll put you
in the ASPCA, you mangy mutt!!! And...

They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa.
They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa.
To the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be happy
to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're coming
to take me away, ha-haaa!!!
To the happy home, with trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket
weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes and they're
coming to take me away, ha-haa!!!
To the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time... (fade out)

Hey, buddy!
Yes officer..
You a head?
No, but I'm catching up, ha ha ha....

Upload Monday: Spice by the Spice Girls

A bit of chick pop to go with my chick lit. ;)

I´m still at my experimental cooking stage but I need to tone it a bit down because I´m gaining too much weight. It seems I´m a good cook. ;)

Upload Monday: Dracula, the musical

Music by Angel Mahler, sang by Juan Rodo as Dracula. The video quality is not the best but just have a look at the wide range Juan can sing. It is the most tender love song you will ever hear. I have it in my wedding video.

You and me, who can take us apart?

Wherever you are, I will be. In your dreams, I will be. We will be able to love each other for eternity.
Who can defy the force I have in me, now that I´m by your side?

turn up the lights, hit the stage
no more waiting

its my turn now
and ya know that i'm ready
its my turn now

break down the walls gonna go for it all
its my time

show you how
because its my turn now

no time to wait on the side
watching it all pass me by
i'm gonna be in the game
watch me play it

let's get to starting the show
turn up the lights, hit the stage
no more waiting

its my turn now
and ya know that i'm ready
its my turn now
yeah, i'm strong and steady
break down the walls gonna go for it all
its my time
gonna shine
show you how
because its my turn now
its my turn now
in my heart i'm believing
that i can see how
i can live what i'm dreaming
i understand, now i know who i am
it's my chance, gonna dance

because its my turn now

break down the walls gonna go for it all
its my time
gonna shine
show you how
because its my turn now
its my turn now
in my heart i'm believing
that i can see how
i can live what i'm dreaming
i understand, now i know who i am
it's my chance, gonna dance
play it loud
because its my turn now
