Paint Party # 10 and the Full flower full moon

Part 1: The thrifty painter

When I´m working on other pieces and prepare my colours I use till the last drop of acrylics. I´ve been playing with paint on magazine pages. Practicing layers and drippings with what was left of my girl in the doorway.

I wanted to see the result from afar before adding words (as in an art journal, only working of separate papers) so I taped the pages with masking tape to a picture at the far end of the dining room (which is doubling up as a craft room these days). Just imagine my hubbie´s surprise when he opened the blinds the next day. :D My own private exhibition. I´m easily amused. ;)
Part 2: Where I paint without paint.
Another double spread for my Wishcasting Journal by Jamie Ridler. Using images and words from magazines and coloured pens.
My cross stitch dragon. Fifteen years in the making and soooooo close to being completed. Using coloured threads.
Part 3: Time for a Full Moon board! You can post your own board somewhere on the web and then link to it at Jamie Ridler´s post for this month´s moon.
As usual for the past three years I use the current issue of the chosen magazine (this year Oh La Lá)
If you see this board as too grey and schematic ... that is exactly how I´m feeling about my pieces this past two weeks. *sigh*
Side B got a bit busier but I still don´t see what all this is about. It´s been a long time since I´ve been so perplexed by a board.
Thanks for visiting! Looking forward to what you´ve been up to this week. See you in cyber space! :)

AEDM 2010: Day 10 The dragon

One of my projects is to finish this dragon for Mati´s 15th birthday next February.
It seems very doable, taking into account the few white spots left.
Now add that I have been working on this since 1996 and you are allowed to doubt my goal. :D
Yes, you read right. I started the dragon for him when he was born.
It is quite a complex design, with many colours made out of two strands of two different colours, Each cross stitch thread has six strands. I must take one of those and mix it with another strand from another colour. The blending is cool.

All kinds of happy

Tati has been waiting for this day since Year 1!
On Year 5 the kids from the three Year 5 classes go to a farm school for a week. They have a barrack with bunker beds for boys on one side and one for girls on the other with the dining room and classrooms in the middle. Most of the classes are outside, as practical knowledge is the key of their stay.
Tati (in the middle) and a few friends with their class sign.
Kids gathered for head counting at the primary school. :D
My week:

Saturday 15th. L came for a playdate. When his dad and siblings came to pick her up, they phoned the mom and they all stayed for dinner. You think you have read that story here before?Well, yes. That´s happened more than once before. Lol!

Thursday 20th. My passport arrived! Plans are getting into shape. ;)
Friday 21st. Tati left for her study trip full of smiles.

Dragon update. If you look closely you can see some progress.
I´m experimenting a lot at the kitchen. Mostly with magazines recipies and adding my own touch according to my family tastes. :)

What do you wish to invest in?

Mati, Dan & myself. October 12th 1996. The closest family picture in time to:
The dragon. November 23rd 1996.

Large or small, financial or otherwise, what do you wish to invest in? , that is Jamie´s question for today.

Just like last week´s, my wish today will be simple. I wish to invest time finishing my dragon.
Not only for the "crafty" point of view (I´m easing back into the crafty me ;) ) but also as a comitment to my son. I started it when he was a baby and now I´m aiming to finish and frame it before his next birthday (which I must add it´s his 15th!).

My apologies to Marja who doesn´t like posts without pictures! I will scan and add one of baby Matu and the young dragon later today. ;)

ETA: pictures at the top. BTW: Happy birthday Marja!!! :)

What do you wish to dare? + the moving dragon

Jamie asks this week: What do you wish to dare?

My wish this week is simple enough. I wish dare knocking on some doors to invite people to play. :D

I joined Facebook a couple of days ago.

The first step was asking at my favourite forum how I could go round finding the girlies there. Some volunteered their names and some added me as a friend. I treasure each one and bask in the love shown.

Then ... then I dared knocking on Suzie´s door. She was so nice about it (*waving at Suzie*) that now I´m gathering courage to knock on some more doors. *grin*

On other news:
I made some progress, stitching about 5 hours a week. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday while watching re-runs of CSI: Miami and some other on Sundays while chatting with the family after lunch.
